Root Canal Treatment – Endodontics
Endodontics is what most of the people know as “root canal treatment”. Root canal treatment involves removing damaged or dead nerves and blood vessels in the tooth root that have become infected due to decay, trauma or cracks. The space left is then filled with a material that seals the tooth and keeps it functioning normally. Re-treatment (2nd chance of saving the tooth) involves the removal of existing root filling material, re-cleaning the canals and placing new filling material.
Advanced Techniques Of Endodontics
Among other advanced techniques and instruments utilized at our practice, surgical loupes with LED illumination, and the surgical operating microscope have opened up entirely new vistas for the treatment of both non-surgical and surgical endodontics. Due to the enhanced illumination and high magnification optics, calcified root canals can be optimally located. Additionally, re-treatment of endodontic cases that have failed due to separated instruments, separated posts, and repair of perforations can now be managed with greater efficiency and success. These cases, in the past, could be managed only by surgical approaches that have a lower success rate.
In the rare but unfortunate event that a root canal proves unsuccessful to rid a tooth of infection, pain or swelling, we are uniquely qualified to increase the odds of success.
By accessing the tooth’s root through a small window and removing and sealing the end of the root, we can increase the likelihood of salvaging the tooth by 90 percent — or higher in ideal situations. In cases in which surgical endodonticsis the treatment of choice, the increased magnification and illumination allows for enhanced visualisation of the surgical field. This, in turn, allows for more efficient surgical technique and greater ability to achieve success in surgical endodontics.
As long as there is no fracture or any another non-treatable issue, we can help to maintain the tooth for many years to come. In situations where a tooth cannot be saved, we fortunately have several treatment options available. You will learn about all options during your consultation, helping you to make an informed decision about your treatment.
I was very pleased with my treatment of the implants and was kept informed at all times what Shakeel was doing.
