Dr Shakeel Shahdad (BDS, MMedSc, FDS RCSEd, FDS RCS (Rest. Dent.) RCSEd, DDS)

Consultant in Restorative Dentistry and Specialist in Periodontics, Endodontics, and Prosthodontics
Shakeel is a Consultant and Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer in Restorative Dentistry at Barts and The London Dental Hospital.
Shakeel specialises in treating patients requiring complex and advanced restorative treatment including surgical placement and restoration with dental implants.
He is a Fellow of the International Team for Implantology (ITI), which is just one of his many impressive credentials. He is also a Diplomate of British Society of Oral Implantology (BSOI).
Shakeel was awarded a Masters degree in Restorative Dentistry at the Queen’s University of Belfast in 1995. In 1997, he attained Fellowship to The Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and finally, he undertook a hospital based accredited 5-year specialist training in Restorative Dentistry at the Newcastle Dental Hospital, which he completed in 2005. He also completed a 4-year part-time research degree at Newcastle University for which he was awarded a Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS).
Shakeel has gained the highest restorative qualification in the United Kingdom in the form of the Intercollegiate Specialty Fellowship Examination in Restorative Dentistry, which is awarded jointly by the English and the Scottish Royal Colleges of Surgeons. He is registered with The General Dental Council (Registration No. 80237) as a specialist in Restorative Dentistry, Prosthodontics , Periodontics and Endodontics.
The 5-year specialist-training programme is unique to the United Kingdom and this training is mandatory for an appointment to a Consultants’ post. In 2005, Shakeel was appointed as a Consultant in Restorative Dentistry at The Royal London Dental Hospital, part of the Barts and The London NHS Trust.
He also is Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer in Restorative Dentistry at Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry, where he is involved in training of future consultants, specialists and postgraduate students. He has a special interest in Implant Dentistry and is the clinical lead for postgraduate implant training. He lectures both nationally and internationally on various aspects of restorative dentistry, in particular implant dentistry, gum surgery and tooth wear.

Dr Ama Johal (BDS; MSc; PhD; FDS RCS; DMS; MOrth RCS; FDS(Orth) RCS)

Consultant Orthodontist and Specialist in Sleep-Related Disorders
Ama is a Senior Lecturer & Consultant Orthodontist at Bart’s and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry. He qualified in dentistry at Sheffield University in 1989 with honours and completed the Membership in Orthodontics (Royal College Surgeons England) and Masters Degree in Orthodontics at Bart’s and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry, graduating with distinction in 1996 more recently he has completed a PhD in Orthodontics.
Both his clinical and research work has been rewarded with numerous National and International prizes from The British Orthodontic Society, European Orthodontic Society, British Dental Association, The Craniofacial Society of Great Britain, The General Dental Council, and The Society for the Study of Prosthetic Dentistry. He is an invited lecturer, both nationally and internationally, appearing as a guest speaker at numerous conferences and has published widely in International Journals.
Both his role as a Consultant Orthodontist and his additional training in children’s dentistry have equipped him with the skills to provide the very highest standards of patient care, in a reassuring manner. His specialist clinical interests include providing care for patients with missing teeth and the management of adult patients.
Ama has been actively involved in the training of Dentists and Orthodontists now for over ten years.
He is one of only 5 practicing orthodontists in the UK to have gained full membership to the Angle Society of Europe; a group of Orthodontists dedicated to providing the highest standards of clinical care.
Dr Sarah Shah (BDS, MFDS RCSEd, MClinDent, MPaedDent RCSEng, FDS (Paed. Dent.) RCS (Eng)

Consultant in Paediatric Dentistry
Sarah is a Consultant in Paediatric Dentistry at The Chelsea and Westminster NHS Trust.
She is an experienced paediatric dentist having solely treated children since 2004. She has undergone extensive paediatric specialist training in numerous NHS leading teaching hospitals in the UK and has a vast experience in treating complex dental problems in children. She completed her paediatric dental specialist training at the Edinburgh Dental Institute and the Royal London Dental Hospital. Having completed her specialist training she passed the Royal College of Surgeons of England Examination in 2007. She has also carried out research in paediatric dentistry and successfully completed a Master of Clinical Dentistry in Paediatric dentistry at the University of Edinburgh. Her consultant training was completed at The Royal London Dental Hospital in 2009. She currently works as a NHS Consultant at the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital.

Her experience as a specialist and a consultant is broad and includes the management of anxious children, dental anomalies, dental trauma, and medically compromised children. She also has extensive experience of treating children under general anaesthesia and sedation.
Although, Sarah is highly trained at treating complex problems in children, she also sees children who require routine dental treatment including preventative dentistry.
Sarah has operating and admitting rights at some of the leading private hospitals in the West End.
Mr Simon Holmes (BDS, MBBS, FDS RCS, FRCS)

Consultant Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon
Simon is a Consultant in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the Barts and The London NHS Trust.
He qualified in dentistry at Guy’s Hospital and medicine at Guy’s and St Thomas Hospitals. His basic surgical training was at King’s College, Kent and Sussex, and Sidcup hospitals. He then went on to complete his higher surgical training was at St Bartholomew’s and the Royal London Hospital. Simon is an accredited Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon. He is on the General Medical Council specialist list, and on the General Dental Council specialist list for surgical dentistry.
His areas of expertise include the management of maxillofacial trauma, dento-alveolar and oral surgery, preprosthetic and implant surgery, facial pain, diseases and disorders of the temporomandibular joint, and acquired soft and hard tissue facial deformity.
He is active in clinical research, and has presented internationally at several scientific meetings and has published numerous papers in refereed scientific journals and textbooks.
Simon also consults and treats patients under general anaesthesia at The London Bridge Hospital and The Princess Grace Hospital.
Mr Michael Millwaters (BDS, MBBS, FDS RCS (Eng), FRCS (OMFS)

Consultant Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon
Mike is a Consultant in Oral and Maxillofacial surgery at Barts and The London NHS Trust, and The Princess Alexandria Hospital.
He qualified from dental school at the Royal London Hospital with BDS in 1991 and the medical school at UCH London 2000. In between he held SHO jobs at the Royal London and St. Margaret’s, Epping and worked in general dental practice in Bishop’s Stortford and Colchester.
Following medical school Mike completed house jobs and basic surgical training before embarking on registrar training in oral and maxillofacial surgery in the North-East London rotation.
His main clinical interests and expertise include correction of facial deformity, dento-alveolar surgery and surgical dermatology. He is also interested and involved in clinical education.
Dr Kamran Ahmed (BMedSci, BMBS, FRCA)

Consultant Anaesthetist
Kamran is a Consultant Anaesthetist at the Barts and The London NHS Trust.
He qualified from Nottingham University Medical School in 1990. He gained excellent training in Anaesthesia in Nottingham and London and in 1997 became a Fellow of the Royal College of Anaesthetists.
After completing his training he spent two years in Seattle. Since 2002 he has been a Consultant Anaesthetist at Barts and The London Hospitals.
He has extensive experience of providing sedation for dental procedures.
I was very pleased with my treatment of the implants and was kept informed at all times what Shakeel was doing.
